Perforated angle steel is widely used in the construction industry as a high-quality building material. Its excellent toughness makes it a favorite among builders. However, several issues may arise during the use of perforated angle steel, such as billet grinding marks, slideway scratches, and furnace bottom roller indentations. These problems can significantly reduce the performance of perforated angle steel. So, how can we avoid these issues?
Billet Grinding:
Perforated angle steel billets are ground with a coarse grinding wheel, which can leave grinding marks on the surface of the rolled plate, especially on thick plates over 20mm.
Slideway Scratches:
In the heating furnace, billets may develop slideway scratches on the lower surface during movement along the slideway.
Rolling Indentations:
During centering, friction between the center plate and the edge of the center plate can cause burrs and splashes on the surface, leading to rolling indentations on the surface.
Large Chain Scratches:
Dislocation between chains can cause asynchronous movement of steel plates on the cooling bed, resulting in scratches on the lower surface.
Furnace Bottom Roller Indentations:
The furnace bottom rollers are subject to high-temperature gases and loads, which can easily cause surface nodules and indentations on the lower surface of the center plate.
Straightening Machine Indentations:
Oxide scales left on carbon steel during straightening can easily form indentations on the surface of the center plate during the straightening process.
Handling Scratches:
Improper handling during transportation can cause rib damage at the edges and surface scratches due to non-standard unloading operations.
Construction companies must strictly adhere to standard requirements when using perforated angle steel to maximize its value. To improve the performance of perforated angle steel, manufacturers need to strictly control production quality during the design and processing stages, ensuring that the processed perforated angle steel meets the ex-factory requirements and can be widely applied in actual production.
